Week beginning October 19

This week we will talk about daily routines, job duties and company organigrams (unit 3).
YOUR TASK FOR THIS WEEK: In about 50 words describe your job responsibilities. If you do not work then describe what your mom/dad/friend does on a usual day at work or pick up your future/any job and describe what an employee does on a particular day in that position. Pay attention to the way in which you use the 1st and 3rd person singular in the Simple Present Tense.
REMEMBER: I have included the feature "comment moderation". This means that if your comment has too many mistakes or is not suitable as content and style I will reject it. YOU (not me) have to reedit and improve it and then I will accept it. You know where you can find me for help, I am always there and willing to support!

  2. Adrian90, I have asked to speak about what an employee does on a particular day, not in general. Please revise and reedit your comment!

  3. Dear students,
at this point you are supposed to speak about what an employee does on a particular day in that position. Use specific language for that position and please do not copy/paste from sophisticated jobs you find on the Internet. Better choose usual jobs you are familiar with. The idea is that you employ the Simple present for routine activities. If you have questions, please contact me.

Then he goes into a room where he checks all the parameters (pressure, temperature, debts, vibrations, axial displacements and levels) then he writes the values on a piece of paper, then he checks to see if there are any gas leaks or if the pumps are overheated. This process is repeated every hour until his shift ends.

  11. An year ago, I used to work in a small company in the transport field. I did all the paper work for that company. It was an every day routine. I arrived to my office at half past eight and drank my coffee. Then I started working. I turned on the computer. The company organized training courses for drivers. They had to obtain a certificate in order to work as drivers. It is called "transport license". I did the work of a cashier as well. People payed the course taxes and I gave them a receipt. I can't say I really liked my job but it wasn't hard. Anyway it's very difficult to find a job nowadays so we have to be happy with what we got.

  12. Hello,

This is just a short presentation of the workday of a salesman, this being my former job.
I wake up at 6 o’ clock every morning and at 7.15 I arrive at the office. The first half an hour is used for reading my e-mails and after that begins the daily meeting where we establish the objectives for the rest of the day.
The most important moments in a salesman life is the contact with the clients; every day I have to make a lot of visits, around 25. The steps that must be followed at every customer are: stock assessment, selling products, receiving debt and merchandising.
After ending the fieldwork, I return at the office where I send my daily report.
About 18.00 I finish my workday.
This was a very brief presentation, because there are so many interesting words to say, but the best for later.
