This week we are going to learn about how to describe jobs and people. You can find the subject in the coursebook Intensive English for Business Students, units 1 and 2 (A.Pop - the book can be purchased from Operativ - the office opposite the Cashier on the ground floor)If the coursebook is not available at the moment, please revisit.
To apply what we have learnt, we will play a guessing game. Think of a famous Romanian businessman, politician, sportsman, music or film star and describe him/her without giving their name. The best description/describer and guesser will get a prize. Surprise!

I write about ..... oops I allowed to say. I describ a politician. He has nearly 60 years, is about 1.75 m isn't too fat. He has a big and flattened nose, thin lips, eyes small size green color, wears glasses, has big ears. Has no mustache and beard.It hasn't too much hair on his head is half bald.

He is a famous Romanian football player. He is rich, young and beautiful. People call him „ the brilliant” . In the past he played for Fiorentina and Chelsea. His wife is a beautiful woman. They have two lovely daughters. This football player had some problems with drugs in the past and he risks to loose all his fortune because of them. He has short dark hair, brown eyes, a small nose and thick eyebrows. He has a beauty mark near his nose, on the left side. He is not very tall. Every girl likes him!

This was too easy...
He is a very famous actor, screenwriter and play director from Romania. He died. He was a huge influence to all the young actors out there. He's a short, average build, male Caucasian, has thin grown grey hair, an oval face, a wide forehead, bushy eyebrows, big dark green eyes, big ears and noes, thin lips. He always wears glasses.

ReplyDeleteThe man I am going to describe is an actor who actually works in Media (radio and tv). He is middle-aged and a very nice and smart person. He has short brown hair, hazel eyes, a long face and an athletic body constitution. About his character, I know that the oratory is his strength. Also, he has the sense of humour and an intelligent irony which has the most positive impact in his job. In an other words, his activity includes the critics and the analysis of activity of known, famous persons and especially of the politicians. So, his success is specially due to the moral qualities, speaking abilities and courage to face powerful and famous people. In my opinion, his actual job is very proper for him. An other indication is that there is a similitude between one of his activity and our student and present activity. But my huge problem is that I forgot his name. Please help me to remember. ReplyDeleteHe is one of the greatest soccer players of Romania.He played in the 60`s and the 70`s and started to play in the first division at a fragil age of 14 and played for the national team for 48 times.He was courted by the famous team,Real Madrid but he refused their offer because he wanted to stay at the team of his heart.He was a tall person,well-built,he had a big nose and he was fast.He died in 2007 after a long battle with cancer.Well mates,good luck!!Cheers!

ReplyDeleteNow for my description i chose a quite entertaining TV pamphlet show from Prima TV.
The character i'm describing is e very talented show presenter and quite a funny guy, he is medium hight, normal body size (he usually claims he's fat and people make fun of him because of that) and he has brown eyes and hair. His voice is used in all of the commentary from the televised gags about reporters and news presenters who screw up during their coverage (babbling and such).
The Person I would like to table about is a famous sport player. He was born in Tg-Mures. He is near the age of 30. He is 1,70m. tall and he is a person who likes to work out his body. He is the first sport player who has ever won a game in China. He has ended his sport carer. Now he enjoys playing football. He started in 1967 with the film “Dacii” who was the first Romanian hit-movie in Western Europe. He had the privilege to work in France, Germany and other countries on several projects in the seventies and eighties and his films were mostly historical.

He played fotball since 12 , he played Corvinu Hunedoara, Dinamo Bucuresti, team which become also a coach. He knows a lot of foreign languages. In an interview gaved to a television show he said that always when he was in cantonment and the others collegues were playing or having fun or drinking a beer, he was standing in the room and studing languages. He is the most awared romanian coach and the most international known. He is in world top 5. Who is it?

She is also a very good actress and she has played in multiple theatrical plays as well in television shows that were and are very well know to the public.
